Ponder
Sat an eagle on a rock, and a frog on a lily-padded pond. They kept each other company.
“Why am I here?” quoth the frog.
Smiled the eagle a smirked grin, though teeth had he not. “Dear frog, my friend, you are here, we are- to do drugs,” in reply, he squawked.
The pause that followed was punctuated by the frog’s rumination.
“Hm. Hmm…”
Wrapped in a side-glance, the eagle pursued, “You might wonder then, why you are thirsty.”
“Not that I did, but now that I do, it can’t be said that I don’t,” doubled the frog in curious reply.
Just then, the sound of a snapped branch brought attention to the monkey reaching for a fruit that hung just above the placid pond; the reeds by waterline submitted to the breeze.
“Look,” started the eagle, lowering his voice so as not to affect the monkey’s attention, but with enough purpose to draw -in affection- the frog’s own. “Look upon the snap, and the moment it spread for our viewing.”
The simple frog looked up to spot the embedded reel in nature’s action. He saw the paw of monkey, in hunger, feel the monkey’s thirst. “What of this?” he queried.
The eagle, by now his wisdom ascertained, said nothing.
“Eagle, my friend, whom forever I’ve known- make it so that of this scene the same might be said.”
Laughed the eagle a second’s-worth: “Effort is dependency. And dependency is all- that cycles born of imagined breath allow us sight, and some of us flight.”
“To be here is to believe, that beyond the choice of birth, all freedom is choice. We are here to understand that in this truth, that this, in fact, is not what’s true.
“We are here, frog- my friend, to feel: and here, in feeling to find out what flight repeats in wisps and whispers of silence; here, we are here to know that we are not- to speak into nothing the meaning that is all.
“We are here because- where else would we be?”
Started the frog, from a sudden taste upon his elastic tongue; the placid lake was by surface ruffled, the eagle’s flight, and in gator’s gulp was frog gone.
The unshook monkey indifferently munched on the lunch he’d achieved.
